“Spen za nite wiz dis sit” will be screened at

Small World International Animation Festival.

August 19 - Sept 2

Small World, a new international animation festival based at The Civic in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, today presents its line up of animated short films for its inaugural Festival in 2009.

The Festival will provide an exciting opportunity to see some of the current world's best animated short films in this vibrant, emerging cultural centre.

There are over 30 short animated films in the 2009 Festival from animators and artists
across the globe,
including UK, USA, France, Japan, Canada, Hungry, Switzerland and Norway, many of which are Oscar winners and nominees.

The Festival will host three screens within Gallery@ The Civic: an Oscars screen showing work nominated for awards in 2008 and 2009;

an International Screen showing work from across the globe and an Anglo-French student screen showing the best work by students from the Royal College of Art in London and Supinfocom in Valenciennes.

Small World 2009 aims to inspire audiences with varied themes, engaging visuals and a wide range of animation techniques.
The films cover a wide range of ideas and stories;
2009 Oscar winner La Maison en Petits Cubes is a mesmerising reflection on the different stages of life;
Pixar short Presto is an engaging tale of a magician’s assistant who won’t play ball;
Facteur Mineur considers the fate of miners at a closing Pencil Mine who won’t leave quietly. Also showing within the Festival are 7 films from AnimateTV.

Originally screened on Channel 4 in September 2008, these films employ a broad range of techniques from rotoscope to timelapse
and explore a range of themes to represent the freshest artistic talent from the UK.

Len Lye & Spen za nite wiz dis sit at HIVE Gallery

Too late information, but i want to tell you.

Spen za nite wiz dis sit and other shorts were shown at the HIVE Gallery as part of an exhibition of the work and influence of Len Lye.

The show, ART IN MOTION, was a great success, featured Lye’s RAINBOW DANCE, TRADE TATTOO and A COLOUR BOX as well as work by Mario Cavall, Airside and Universal Everything.
